Have You Damaged your Odyssey Ai One Putter? PUTTERPARTS.COM has developed replacement parts.

The new Odyssey Ai One putters are quite the investment at the price point of $250+, and we felt it was important to provide face insert options for mishaps like the pic above. After some extensive development and planning, we are offering optimized solutions for the Odyssey Ai One models of putter.

The Replacement Process

1. Start with heat: we pioneered the boiling water heating method for putter insert removal around 15 years ago with the Odyssey White Hot line of putters. Boiling (212 deg F) for about 10 minutes does not harm the shaft epoxy or putter finish.

2. Use a pick and peel: once hot, use a pick to peel back the old Ai One insert face. Because it's hot, the stock face is soft and pliable, but please be careful not to burn yourself. With care, the silver border can also be saved in place. If it pops out, we have solutions for that too. Please email support@putterparts.com for help.

3. After the stock Ai One insert is removed, the bonding residue must be removed, so clean, clear metal is available for the new insert to bond to.

New PUTTERPARTS Add Durability and Performance

Apply epoxy and bond in a new solution like smooth flat black Carbon Fiber Fusion or milled Tellurium Copper as seen in the pic above, following steps in our How-to. These aftermarket solutions for the Odyssey Ai One perform equally or better in the opinion of many who have tried them so far.

1. Consider Your Feel Preference

   Did you like the stock feel and its softness? Then Carbon Fiber Fusion with horizontal grooves may be the replacement best option. Need more response? Then choose milled Tellurium Copper.

   
   

2. Weight Effect

   Though a new copper face is usually a significant weight addition in other putter models, it is so thin for the Ai One Odyssey that the weight difference between the carbon fiber fusion and copper is negligible.

   
   

3. Durability

   Both carbon fiber fusion and copper add a level of durability compared to the stock part. The metal probably has the edge, but copper is still a soft metal. The best way to protect a putter face is a headcover while in the bag, or avoiding tantrums when putting :)

   
   

4. Face Finish Options

   Carbon fiber fusion can be made smooth and copper can be milled smooth if a crisp impact is desired. If a grooved finish is required, then copper can have milled grooves as seen in the photo above. We find the grooves digging into the ball at impact provide a level of perceived softness. We also found horizontal grooves work well with the carbon fiber fusion option due to their slight flex at impact.

Ai One Stage 1 Repair

The above are solutions for the Odyssey Ai One where the aluminum backing face is intact and only the stock white face comes out. If the aluminum backing plate comes out like the pic below, then that is a "Stage 2" replacement, which will be covered in a blog and on our site in future
